The pros and cons of making a digital jump with comics
Mini_discussion_bubble TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog - Posted Tue, 07 Feb 2012 00:00:00 UTC +00:00
Anime News Network did an in-depth comparison of reading manga on an iPad vs. a Nook Color today, after Viz Media sent them both devices so they could do a hands-on look at making the digital jump. After taking a hit from the closing of Borders, Viz decided to turn its popular Shonen Jump publication into a digital-only product. Launched in January, Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha is $25.99 for an annual subscription, with three of its flagship series -- One Piece, Bleach and Naruto -- now running almost concurrent with the Japanese release. Individual issues can be rented for 99 cents for a 4-week period. The results aren't surprising. By holding up a volume of manga next to an iPad, it shows that the iPad is right about the same size as a manga volume and the experience is just as good as reading a print book. Comixology reigns over comics on the iPad

While there are still quite a few good comic book reader apps on the App Store, there's really only one choice for buying digital comics directly from the publishers: Comixology's aptly title Comics app. Comixology launched early on iOS devices, beginning with a web interface and then the very popular iPhone app. Since the introduction of the iPad the company's really started to shine, bringing in huge partnerships with publishers like DC, Marvel, and Image Comics. Comixology provides both a very slick and usable reading interface and a very well-designed store that delivers digital comics through in-app purchases. Comixology's VP of Marketing, PR, and Business Development Chip Mosher kindly met up with us on the floor of Macworld | iWorld this week, and he agrees that the App Store has brought a lot of success for Comixology, both the app and the company itself (which also runs a few other standalone Read More
10 Awesome iOS Comic Book Apps
Mini_discussion_bubble Mac|Life - Posted Sat, 23 Jul 2011 23:24:15 UTC +00:00
Posted 07/23/2011 at 3:24pm | by Andrew Groen Even if you've never stepped foot in a comic book store in your life, you don't have to sit out on the action. Comic book readers for iOS let anyone indulge in stories of adventure and superheroes. In honor of Comic-Con, we found 10 of the best -- some are free apps that let you buy comics as in-app purchases, and others are paid library apps where you upload digital comics you already own. But at least one should suit every true believer's needs. 1 of 10 ComicsComics, more commonly referred to as Comixology after its developer, is notable for one specific reason: it's the only place where you can buy comics by DC along with publishers, which makes it a must-have for comic fans. The free, universal app may not be the best software for reading, but when you've got the weight Read More

Best Apps of 2010: iPhone and iPad Apps That Were Largely Overlooked
Mini_discussion_bubble iSmashPhone - Posted Sun, 19 Dec 2010 14:50:00 UTC +00:00
There are often those Apps we totally love, but never get the recognition we feel they deserve. It's unfortunate considering how great these Apps are. These don't belong in any single category. Two are games, some are reading material and another is just for entertainment. Definitely do yourself a favor and check these out, you may find that you really enjoy them. Here's our list of favorite under-appreciated Apps of 2010:   1) Kiko: The Last Totem (99 cents) We found this one while browsing around the App Store and really ended up liking it. The gameplay is simple, you must guide Kiko and his cat-like friends (all of whom are sleeping…typical cats) by sliding them around the level to little panels that match their color. It all sounds very easy, but that's what makes a great game: easy to grasp but difficult to master.    2) Frotz for iPad (free) We Read More
20 great, free iPad comics
Mini_discussion_bubble TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog - Posted Thu, 29 Jul 2010 23:30:00 UTC +00:00
CNET's Crave blog compiled a great list last week of twenty great, free comic books to read on your iPad. For me, more than anything else, the iPad seems perfect for a visual, interactive medium like comics. Movies are better on my big screen, and books can be read on a Kindle (or just on paper -- weird, I know), but for the iPad, having the ability to zoom in on a great piece of comic art or download new comics straight to the device to be read on that big, colorful screen seems perfect. Enter this list, which has some great free samples from both the DC and Marvel comics apps, or a few other free Comics reader apps available on the store. There's some really good stuff out there for the low price of absolutely nothing, from some classic books that are hard to find in print to some Read More
Official DC Comics app is live

ComiXology has done it again. First the Marvel Comics app was released, powered by the company's familiar engine, and then one recently for BOOM! Studios. Now DC Comics has finally released its own app, running on ComiXology's familiar interface. So far the DC store's offerings are rather slim, especially when you take into account all of the titles the publisher handles. Most of the titles available are the more recent ones, such as Green Lantern: Rebirth and Frank Miller's Batman. One very awesome offering of note in the store: Neil Gaiman's Sandman; it's only one issue so far, but that's a much better start than zero. ComiXology also has their own comics app and, just as the DC, Marvel and BOOM! apps are, it is free. Some of the same titles offered in the individual comics apps are available within the ComiXology app, though you can only get DC titles within Read More

TV-Moderator Charlie Rose setzte sich an einen Tisch mit Walt Mossberg (Wall Street Journal), David Carr (New York Times) und Michael Arrington (TechCrunch) um dem iPad 23 Minuten Aufmerksamkeit zu widmen. Aus diesem Gespräch lässt sich David Carr folgendermaßen zitieren: One thing you have to understand about this gadget is that the gadget disappears pretty quickly. You’re looking into pure software. ComiXology’s Comics Concept Video Shows Us What Comic Books Will Look Like On The iPad
Mini_discussion_bubble Apple iPhone Apps - Posted Mon, 08 Feb 2010 18:57:42 UTC +00:00
Panelfly and IDW have already shown you what comic books will look like on the iPad via a series of images, but comiXology has gone the extra mile and prepared a concept video of their Comics app running on an iPad to give you an even better idea of what to expect. The video embedded below shows off what it will be like viewing a comic in Comics on the iPad in landscape mode. As you can see, comics will be able to be viewed two pages at a time in landscape mode with the option to view each panel in full-screen mode.  What isn’t shown, however, is that when you flip the device you can view comics as a single page.  This is just a taste of what to expect, as there will be many more viewing options available when the app is released. The company expects to have their iPad-optimized Read More

When It Comes To In-App Purchases On The iPhone, Games, Social Networking, And Books Rule
Mini_discussion_bubble TechCrunch - Posted Tue, 10 Nov 2009 17:24:08 UTC +00:00
Now that in-app purchasing for free apps has been live for a few weeks in the iTunes App Store, and Apple is now ranking the top-grossing apps, whether they start out as free or paid, we have some initial data on what kinds of apps are pulling in the most money from in-app purchases. (In-app purchases allow apps to offer a free version and then make money by requiring consumers to pay for additional features or content). Today, Distimo put out a report (download it here) which breaks down the top 40 grossing in-app purchasing titles by category (see chart below). Games, social networking, and book apps are doing the best job upselling consumers from free apps to paid enhancements. Music, news, and finance apps, not so much. Games top the rankings of these best performing apps, with ngmoco’s Eliminate Pro (iTunes link) currently the No. 8 top-grossing app, validating ngmoco’s Read More

That sure didn’t take long.  Some developers have immediately jumped at the opportunity to include in-app purchases in their formerly paid apps.  As of this morning, three relatively high profile apps have been reduced to free and have been modified to include additional functionality via in-app purchases. Rolando 2: Quest for the Golden Orchid is now available in the App Store free of charge, or at least the first chapter is.  After downloading the game, you can purchase chapters 2-4 via in-app purchases for $.99 a piece.  Chapters 5 and 6 are combined as a single in-app purchase for $1.99.  That puts the total price of the full game at the same $4.99 price that it was at previously.  You can also just purchase all chapters at once via a single in-app purchase for $4.99 if you already know you want the full game. is another popular app that has been Read More

Comics for iPhone updated to 1.2: adds push notifications for new comics and Twitter support
Mini_discussion_bubble iSource - Posted Mon, 28 Sep 2009 21:52:19 UTC +00:00
There will be a few more new comics from Boom! comics coming to the Comics app soon, but that’s not the biggest news of the 1.2 update. Push notifications will now be sent to Comics users whenever new issues of your favourite titles become available, and you can have the app auto-tweet about your in-app activities (I turned this one off  – feels a bit too spammy for my tastes). They also added the ability to see which comics you’ve bought, although it took me a little while to find this feature. I thought I’d see some sort of badge or notification before buying a comic I already owned, or see some indication of ownership while browsing the catalogue. It turns out it’s much simpler than that. You just go to the “My Comics” tab and scroll down to the “Browse My Comics by…” section. This is where you’ll see all Read More

Comics iPhone app updated with 50 new issues

Again, we have some free and some paid comics in the new bundle, meaning that a buck ($0.99) you’ll pay for the app itself is well worth it. Or at least, that’s in case you love comics, like I do. Hopefully, we’ll see more comics (especially free issues) being added in the near future. In the meantime, if you still haven’t download the application, you can do that by clicking on this link. ‘Comics’ By ComiXology Gets 50 New Comics
Mini_discussion_bubble Apple iPhone Apps - Posted Mon, 24 Aug 2009 22:36:18 UTC +00:00

Review: Comics by comiXology iPhone app
Mini_discussion_bubble MobileCrunch - Posted Tue, 18 Aug 2009 16:25:21 UTC +00:00
Short Version: Comic lovers looking for a quick fix while on-the-go will want to check out ComiXology’s recently released Comics app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Comics range from $0.99 to $1.99 and free comics are released on a weekly basis to satiate the cheapskates. Despite the lack of content from major publishers, like DC and Marvel, you can still get the best superhero comic available, Invincible. Extended Version As the first real Comic book reader for the iPhone OS, ComiXology’s app does a good enough job, but it’s hard to look past the lack of content from major publishers. Even with support from Robert Kirkman and Image Comics, Comics falls a bit flat on the content side. From a functional standpoint, it works beautifully. Navigating through the app is surprisingly simple. You can search for comics by title, creator, publisher, genre or rating. Searching via the “Featured” tab cuts Read More

Love This App
NBM05 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
I love this app. I downloaded this about a week ago and have over fifty comics on my phone now. The app has a lot of great series -- many more than I expected. There are a few great high profile titles and a lot of really good independent work. Most series have a free first issue and then remaining issues are only $.99 each. The app has over sixty free titles to try without buying anything. I got this app before they made it free and I don't regret buying it at all. For free everyone should pick it up. I fully intend to keep buying titles through this app. The reader is great, the prices are fantastic, many of the series are really good, and I love having all the comics I buy in one place. The app makes it really easy to organize and find the comics you purchase, and just as easy to buy new issues when they get released. I really hope this app does well and continues to expand.
Great Comic Reader!
Myklsan 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
Very nicely done comic reader. I enjoy the transitions you've incorporated ala Ken Burns Effect. This App zooms automatically to tiny word balloons & frames. I can avoid a lot of tedious zooming in and out of panels. I like that I can set it to show me the whole page after (or before) I've read it. Will thought out and executed. Fast refresh and rotation response, too. Easily the most functional graphic reader I've come across. The setting for memory use is nice. I've other apps that could benefit from this memory concept. Fast customer response, too. Someone at their end must really like comics to set up all the frame transitions. Thank you for your fine work. Other comic reader apps seem so last century in comparison.
More comics please!!
Jerrybezerk 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
Can't wait for more comics to come. This is a great revenue stream for comic companies, because before this I haven't bought a comic since I was a kid in highschool. Now this is going to bring it back. Especially since I'm getting bored of all the iPhone games our there. Now I have something to look forward to on my downtime.
Great app!
Wrath66 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
An elegantly simple solution for reading comics on the iPhone with a remarkably intuitive interface that leads you through the panel beautifully. UPDATE I've now tried the others (iVerse, Comic Zeal) and am convinced that this app is THE way to read comics on the iPhone. Hope you keep adding titles/publishers.
Great app
GaBba_PiNHeAD 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Omg this app is great. The walking dead is a great zombie horror comic. Finding all 10 on this app ( for a price) is great..!!!
If you're more interested in READING comics than collecting them, GET THIS
NixHex 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
I absolutely LOVE this app. I'm more interested in just reading comics than collecting them and your app lets me do just that without the clutter of comics everywhere. If Marvel and/or DC ever joined up on this, it'd be awesome. I truly feel that your app is the answer to comics in the "digital age".
REALLY dislike this reader...a list....
JoeMama9999 1.0 stars Version: 1
I don't like several things:
Outstanding
PopPop503 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Marvel/DC should take notice. Very well written. Love the free samples (which have hooked me into digital and paper subscriptions).
Love how easy it is to manage your library
c_andrew_s 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
I love that it already tells you if it was downloaded. It is easy to use and has the best controls for viewing comics. It works well, i look forward to more titles.
Great App, and a real easy way to store your purchases after they are read.
SW Freak 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
This is truly a great idea to get and read some of the past and current comics to check out for free or a buck. And storage is simple. If you need room to add to your iPod, feel comfortable in deleting the book, because the comic is stored on their server. No need for all the extra storage. This will definatly free up a lot of space, both physically and virtually.
Must have!!
helipilot_rivera 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
Amazing graphics, endless hours inmersing yourself in these stories! Already found myself HAVING to read every episode of The Walking Dead and Guerrillas. Awesome.... Do yourself the favor and get this app. U won't regret it!
One issue
Will Tschopp 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
First I'll say this is the first time I've ever commented in the app store. Second I'll say, I love this app! My only problem is with the new feature that shows all the comics I've previously downloaded. Personally I liked having a list of only the comics I currently have on my iPod, and an option for this would solve this. Otherwise, this is the ultimate comic reading experience! Thanks.
Nothing better.
StonePod 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
GREAT improvements, now with over 50 free comics, push notifications, tweeting and the best comic reader engine out there. Keep up the great work!
Nothing better on the iPhone
CrazyComicMan 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
The interface. The in-app purchases. The push notifications. The 50+ free comics. None of the comic apps come close. Not close.
Almost Perfect
NetFlixAddict 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
(updated for 1.2) This app just gets better and better. Same as 1.1, though: get Marvel and DC and this will be the ultimate app.
Just gets it right.

When you buy this app. you get instant access to 42 free comics. The number of free comics and comics to purchase is always growing. This is my favorite app. on itunes. Its a must for comic fans.
Incredible App
xclamp 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Worthy of 5 stars. The best reading experience for comics on any platform. Has rekindled my love of comics, and I've discovered a few really good ones in the app. Don't let lack of DC or Marvel hold you back, well worth it. Takes advantage of all the best features of the Touch interface.

Best comic reader out there
QuuxExtreme 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Without a doubt, this is the best comic book app on the iPhone.
This is a game-changer...highly recommended!
mstig 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
I have to admit, it had been a very long while since I last read a comic book but now that I can read them on the go and purchase them on-the-fly with this app it has brought me back to the world of comics. The interface is easy and intuitive and the guided view technology for viewing the books is phenomenal. Awesome app!
Nothing better.
StonePod 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Even if you don't like comics you should drop the $1 and try out the 30 free ones. Especially Atomic Robo, Skyscrapers of the Midwest, and Mage!
Very nice app
mickja 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
I feel like a kid again, having a pile of comic books on my iPhone. Being able to purchase new comics through my iTunes account makes the experience easy and seamless. Nice work. Would love to see more publishers on board. But those that are available now will keep me busy for quite a while!
Perfect!
Clari0n 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
When it comes to the idea of digital comics, whether it be on your computer or on a portable device, I feel there are two problems to overcome. One is to ensure that the reading experience is optimal, and the other is actually having comics to read. This app has certainly taken care of the former, and is trying it's hardest to deal with the latter. The guided viewing experience really blew past my expectations. Following the cells, allowing you to rotate when necessary, zoom in or out, it's nothing short of perfect for most comics. It truly makes it a joy to read comics on the iPhone screen, rather than a chore. As for for the comics selection, well right off the bat for your 99 cents, you can download 30 free comics. You can also buy many more right within the app for less than the cost of most print editions. The selection comes from a number of small publishers, so don't expect Batman or X-Men, but perhaps if this proves successful, they'll consider the possibility. One can hope. As it stands, though, the comics available are pretty great. I'm highly satisfied with the experience. I would definitely recommend this to any comics fans out there!
Fantastic!
joe.b. 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Incredible comic reading app! Please everybody get on board and support this one! Come on big comics publishers - this is the way to go. Digital comics are no longer a chore to read on the iphone.

Truly superb!
Closet Reader 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
This is *exactly* what a comics app on the iPhone should be. Frankly, I was initially skeptical of the whole idea of reading comics on a mobile device (at least with plain text you can scale up or down at will without changing context) but Comics' Guided View is so devilishly clever that you may actually find you *prefer* reading this way! Add to that a complete, smooth, absolutely Apple-esque interface, sitting atop a comprehensive application with a full built-in store, and you have a total winner. No wonder this is the top paid book app!
Flipping sweet
Sqwid 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Plenty of samples. Want more comics but this app is amazing otherwise, worth the buy.
One word: whoa!
Vjpvjpalllll 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
This app got me back into reading comic books!
Very very well-done app
TnIan 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
The interface is outstanding. A buck for thirty comics makes this a no-brainer purchase (assuming you like comics). There are a bunch of great titles I never heard of and probably never would have heard of otherwise. And it's a good use of the in-app purchase model - this is how a lot of stuff is going to work in the future. A note to publishers, though; I think you're going to do a lot better with the .99 price point. A $1.99 comic that I don't buy is $0.00 in revenue (and I don't get to read the comic, so we both lose).
This app is amazing!
MetaCoder 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
I am a huge comic book lover and this app is out of this world. It has a great reader for reading comics, a huge list of free titles, and a really nice interface. It even has awesome stuff like Coverflow to let me browse through my downloaded comics and the pages inside comics. A true must have!
I may never buy another comic again
VinnyTheMagnificentOne 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
In paper that is. This app is great! Once they get more content, they'll be perfect!
Fix this
Kyky120 1.0 stars Version: 1.1
It's a really cool app, it just lags like mad! I try and flip to the next box and it takes about 5-10 seconds to move. And if you don't think that sounds too bad try counting to ten before you read the next review. When they fix the lagging problem I will gladly give them 5 stars.
Nothing better on the iPhone

Once this app gets cracking, it'll be great. An easy to use interface and wide selection of series is good, but more issues need to be added.
Just fun

I do not think that a better comic book app could be created! This is simple, easy, and the comic books look great! Also gives you a nice list of local shops that are in your area. High recommend it!
Supersmart.
lookmark 5.0 stars Version: 1
Of all the comic viewers I've seen, this one gets the user interface for reading comics exactly right. A supersmart design, and just a total pleasure to use. Bravo.
MUST BUY!

I've been reading comics for several years now and Robert Kirkman (Image Comics) is by far my favorite writer. This app is worth it, just to read his comics (Invincible, The Walking Dead, Astounding Wolf-Man). I recomend buying his comics in stores as well, but this app is a great start.
This is the future of comics
MisterGoodman 5.0 stars Version: 1
This app really gets it right. A comic book store in my pocket. I like the smooth transitions from panel to panel. Looking forward to new content showing up. Now if only the Apple would release a touch tablet with a bigger screen.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS APP!
Mr. iLarious 5.0 stars Version: 1
In the right hands, comics can be among the most sophisticated media around. But if you're like me, you don't have time to go to the comics store and search through boxes and boxes of them to find the great stuff. Now, you can read the best on your iphone, thanks to Comics!
Wow. Phenomenal.
NateW 5.0 stars Version: 1
I've always wondered what comic books would look like on the iPhone. This takes things to a whole other level. You would think it's just as simple as viewing a PDF or something, but this app brings a unique experience and level of interactivity that enhances the comic book reading experience without distracting the reader with anything too flashy. 5 stars guys!
BY FAR the best comic reader on the iTunes App Store
ServiceGames 5.0 stars Version: 1
I love to read comics. I love the idea of comics on-the-go. And, I've been a big fan of digital distribution since I got my first taste of it years ago. Don't get me wrong, though, I still enjoy collecting books I can actually hold in my hand. All that said, I have tried several comics on the iTunes store. This is the very first one I've come across that has its own built-in store and library. Now, rather than having to slam my iPhone's pages full of comic icons, I can just use one icon to get to all the comics I've bought and/or downloaded from this app. The way the comics are shown panel by panel works perfectly so far.
Gets it right
barnhillec 5.0 stars Version: 1
Really slick app. Gets reading comics on the iPhone platform exactly right.
Great for comic newbies too
Twakes 5.0 stars Version: 1
Have to admit I've never been a big comic fan but this app has made me a convert. Well designed and addictive!
Just what I've been looking for
Strykerprem 5.0 stars Version: 1
As a huge comic fan I can say I've only dreamed of having something like this at my finger tips for a long time. Great work by the author, as usual.
yeah, its pretty slick
@BCL 5.0 stars Version: 1
The way they guide you through the comic is very cool and having a bunch of comics in one place is convenient. I didn't think i would like the digital format. I think my comic habit just got a lot more expensive, assuming they sign more titles (though what they have is enough for a while).
Very cool!
shekanerie 5.0 stars Version: 1
This is a beautiful app. Easy to use and keeps the comic "experience" intact. Well done!
Nice, nice, nice!
Kkambiz 5.0 stars Version: 1
I thought I was kinda, sorta over comics but I can't help getting drawn (excuse the pun) into the crisp graphics and the well designed interface of this great app. That and 30 free comics to cater to the dormant capitalist instinct = an exceptional app for comics fanatics and looky-loo fans like me! Great job!
Finally!
lazyrighteye 5.0 stars Version: 1
A comic book reader that gets it. The navigation/animation is as close to reading a comic as is possible on this platform. The Browse by Page is very slick/functional. Touch to buy issues? Locate a shop near you?!? This app is so... well... done. And with Robert Kirkman signed on... this is a no-brainer for any comic book fan. Rock solid launch. I can only imagine where they will take this. But it certainly appears in good hands. Well done all.
Great app with an awesome interface
Gninjagnome 5.0 stars Version: 1
This a great app, with an awesome concept. The interface works really well and performs very nicely. The image quality is great, and the zoom and navigation make it easy to read. Great when I'm on the go and have a few minutes to kill. Can't wait to see what other comics are going to be added.
Amazing
JustBeFrank 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
A friend of mine showed me the app, and I was hooked. I first thought reading comics on the iPhone would be annoying, but I breezed through the Walking Dead 1-5 really quick (we need more Walking dead!). This is the perfect delivery method for comics I want to read but don't want to buy in print, all that's needed now is Marvel and DC to get on board. I'd totally buy Blackest night or Dark Reign on my iPhone, but won't in print (not enough space in my Apt). Kudos!
This is THE comic reader!
dfbills 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Comics is the first (and only) comic reader that gets it right. This is the one app for all my comics (not dozens of mini-apps).
Great app
nathaninnyc 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
The best comic book app I've used so far. The next best thing to the real thing!
Best comic reader on iPhone so far.
HappyPlaceCA 4.0 stars Version: 1
This reader is a lot slicker than previous iPhone comic readers, you have the ability to see the whole page, and glide from panel to panel, and the reader does something sensible when you rotate the phone. There are also several options for how the reader behaves that can be set.
Mission Accomplished!
LIer-in-LA 5.0 stars Version: 1
The clever crania at Comixology have done it! I'm not surprised that someone created an app to bring the comic book to the iPhone. I just didn't expect it to be done so well! It truly is the comic book lover's comic book app. It serves the fanatical collector well, and allows the user to discover new titles easily and cheaply. The reading experience is awesome, taking full advantage of the iPhone's visual capabilities. This one's a winner!
A really nice app
MadnessAbides 4.0 stars Version: 1
I purchased this app, and I am giving it four stars, mainly on the concept alone... the very first thing I thought about when I heard about in-app purchases with the iphone 3.0 update was an app just like this. This app moves digital comics forward in a big way... if you read digital comics, you have probably dreamed of the the day when an itunes like program exists which would allow you to purchase, save, and organize large amounts of comic books in a legitimate fashion - this app has the potential to turn itself into that. Sadly, without the support of DC and Marvel, no venture into this territory will be “huge” - but I think this specific app does have the ability to become “big” and maybe will give DC and Marvel some motivation to come up with their own apps (does anyone really think those two will agree to be part of the same program? Fans would sure like it, but who knows if it will ever happen).
Intuitive -- Great app!
ekko7 5.0 stars Version: 1
What makes this app so impressive is the interface. Reading a comic is intuitive and natural as you from move from panel to panel. The images crop automatically to carry you along in the story, but you can always manually zoom to see a specific detail or view the page a different way. This makes it easy to admire the artwork, especially the small things you often miss in the background. Another nice surprise is the impact of colors that never appeared this good in print. Terrific app!
The future is here!
Blackhair7 5.0 stars Version: 1
I've been waiting a long time for this app to come along. I downloaded a few comics this evening, many of which were free. I was amazed to find that the pages are shown as individual panels and seem to "animate" from one to the next. I've been reading comics for 25 years, and really dig my iphone. This app is a very cool way for the two worlds to meet. Quite a new and unique way to read comics. Great job guys!
