The iSource iOS 6 Wishlist
Mini_discussion_bubble iSource - Posted Wed, 16 May 2012 23:48:03 UTC +00:00
The Worldwide Developers Conference will take place in early June, and with it will likely come a preview of iOS 6. As such, we’ve put together a team list (organized by author) of the improvements we’d like to see in the next iteration of iOS. The wishes here are varied, but it’s clear (due to a bit of repetition) that notifications, iCloud, and the file system on the iPhone and iPad could do with some loving this year. New Maps Need to Kick Ass: If all the strong rumors are true and iOS 6 is ditching Google Maps for an in-house Apple solution, then they need to be awesome – at least as good as what Google offered. I’m happy to see the change, as long as we don’t lose functionality or features. 1) Free Facetime! I love Facetime but I think it needs to meet its true potential as a Read More
Instacast: aplicación para gestionar tus podcasts
Mini_discussion_bubble EsferaiPhone - Posted Wed, 09 May 2012 20:24:47 UTC +00:00

Instead of finding the website of the podcast and clicking the Flattr button, you can use Instacast 1.5 to flattr podcasts and individual episodes. You can also choose to let Instacast flattr for you automatically once you start playing an episode. Read More
Last-Minute Gift Guide 2011: iOS Apps
Mini_discussion_bubble MobileCrunch - Posted Fri, 23 Dec 2011 19:06:00 UTC +00:00
Looking for a quick last-minute gift? Not feeling up to fighting the holiday traffic, crowds and checkout lines? Just too lazy busy to shop? Then you may want to consider giving the gift of an iOS app. You can gift any paid app from iTunes on your computer or from the app’s description page on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Just scroll down past the screenshot and look for the “gift this app” button. All you’ll need is the recipient’s email address to complete the transaction. This app list includes both new releases and old favorites. It’s entirely subjective! Note that some of this year’s best apps are free, so they aren’t on here. (Waving to Instagram, Path, Spotify, Flipboard, Pinterest, HBO GO, etc.) Also, everyone already has Angry Birds (the original). It’s not on here, either. 1. iMovie ($4.99) Everyone should have this app from Apple, the fun moviemaking app for Read More

Homescreens – Oktober 2011 (iPhone + iPad)

Außerdem verstecken sich in Read More
This means, you can now finally synchronize your podcasts and playback information with multiple devices or have a backup in case your iPhone destroys itself suddenly. Read More
Podcasts streaming as music samples in iTunes app? [Bugs]
Mini_discussion_bubble The iPhone Blog - Posted Tue, 30 Aug 2011 14:23:37 UTC +00:00
By Georgia, Tuesday, Aug 30, 2011 | Whatever changes Apple has been making to the iTunes Store back end lately seems to have caused iTunes app on the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad to stream some podcasts as music samples, rather than handing them off to the built-in media player like they’re supposed to. We’ve tested and everything seems fine and working properly for all of our TiPb podcasts like iPhone Live or iPad Live, or ZENandTECH, Superfunctional, or Iterate, or any of the Mobile Nations podcasts for that matter. However, shows on other networks like 5by5 and TWiT do seem to be experiencing the problem, and it’s annoying to say the least. So what can be done? First, huge props to Rene — whatever he’s doing to edit and upload our podcasts seems to be immune to this annoying iTunes bug. Second, iTunes on iPhone and iPad is an app Read More

Instacast for iPhone updated, adds Airplay, drops iOS 3
Mini_discussion_bubble The iPhone Blog - Posted Fri, 01 Jul 2011 03:35:25 UTC +00:00
By Leanna Lofte, Thursday, Jun 30, 2011 | Instacast, a podcast subscription manager, has received a big update that includes many new features such as AirPlay support, chapter lists, continuous playback, and optimized UI elements. Alas, Instacast no longer supports iOS 3. UPDATE: Instacast has blogged about their iOS 5 roadmap. In the short term, iOS 5 users should stick with Instacast 1.2.2, but things should be in order by the time iOS 5 ships. [Instacast blog] If you pick this one up, let us know what you think! Check out the screenshots after the break. Have an app you’d love to see featured on TiPb? Email us at iosapps@tipb.com, tell us about your app (include an iTunes link), and we’ll take a look.
Instacast erschien heute in Version 1.3 (1,59 €; App Store-Link). Read More

Instacast: The ultimate podcast manager for iPhone?
Mini_discussion_bubble CNET iPhone Atlas - Posted Tue, 05 Apr 2011 20:40:18 UTC +00:00
Instacast doesn't have the world's best interface, but it's a pretty awesome podcast manager all the same. I love podcasts. When I'm in the car, I like nothing better than to queue up shows like "This American Life," "Wiretap," and "A Prairie Home Companion," to name just a few. Of course, if I forget to sync my iPhone for a few days, I won't have the latest episodes on tap. The podcast manager (if you can call it that) that's built into iOS doesn't support streaming, and I can download new shows only over Wi-Fi. Enter Instacast, a podcast manager that not only overcomes these shortcomings, but also makes it easy to find other podcasts I might like. It accomplishes this latter feat by way of the Add screen, which is divided into Popular, Just Added, and Genres sections. There's also a search option, and a handy iPod button for subscribing Read More

So many bugs
dimamo1983 2.0 stars Version: 1.5.3
I do not understand raving reviews of this app. I downloaded it about three weeks ago and it has been a struggle since. Lots of crashes while searching/adding podcasts, background downloads stop many times for no reason. UI is confusing at times. Now, the newest 'fixes' marked all episodes as unplayed so I have to go through 300 of them to remove them from the list.

Great to be able to download on the fly
Peter Townshend 3.0 stars Version: 1.5.3
This app makes listening to podcasts easier without having to be tied to my computer for downloading. Only 3 stars because it doesn't always honor all settings. One of my four subscriptions will not download (streaming only) despite my settings being set to download. Also, this podcast won't delete episodes I've already listened to even though, again, my settings are set to do so.
Powerful with tedious UI
Nutmac 3.0 stars Version: 1.5.3
Instacast is a featured-packed podcast app, with comprehensive directory, full control over caching, iCloud and Dropbox syncing with the iPad version, many playback options (customizable rewind/forward, playback speed), show notes, push notification, and read later support (e.g., Instapaper).Unfortunately wielding all these power requires dealing with rather tedious UI. The screen is very hierarchical, divided into three sections: favorite episodes, all episodes, and downloaded episodes. There is no option to hide played (or marked as played) episodes nor feeds without unplayed episodes.Playing an episode takes at least 3 clicks: (1) select the feed, (2) select the episode, and (3) click a small green "stream" or "start" or "continue" button within. The final step is redundant and difficult to execute while jogging or even if you are standing still. If you want to play episode from different feed, you must click small back button three times, then delve into another episode with another 3 clicks. Also flawed is iCloud integration. While it works well in theory, my iPad and iPhone are rarely fully in sync. I would love a force resync option. Completed episodes also sometimes fail to delete from cache.
Newest Version Frequently Crashes
BenTheTwin 2.0 stars Version: 1.5.3
Let me start by saying that I love this app. Its ability to download and manage podcasts (which I listen to a lot) was what finally allowed me to stop syncing my phone everyday with my computer, which vexed me every time. I love it so much, that it really interrupts me when it bugs out. Earlier versions worked seamlessly and almost became part of the OS in my eyes, but the past couple of updates have been crashing unexpectedly while in the background causing me to have to take my phone out of my pocket and restart the app. It kind of makes me feel like I have to babysit the app a little bit and it's no longer something I can just let play while my phone is in my pocket, forget about, and enjoy. It also crashes regularly when I'm searching or streaming a new podcast. This isn't a free app, and so I hold it to a higher standard of reliability than I would otherwise. When it works, it is worth twice what I paid for it. If this app wasn't such a delight, I wouldn't say anything- but I sincerely hope Instacast returns to its former robustness soon. PS: I use instacast on an iPhone 4 and subscribe to about 30 podcast that range widely in length.
