Believe it or not, we are getting into the start of the holiday season, and that means tons of action on the App Store as people head over to buy apps for their new devices. There are a bunch of exciting new apps to check out today, so here's a quick list: Man, that's a whole lot of great games! This isn't even all of the app releases out this week, and my guess is that we haven't even seen the biggest flood of new apps -- that usually comes around Thanksgiving, and then ramps up again right as Apple freezes the store before Christmas. Does the world really need another big, brawny, cigar-chomping, generic-looking hero? Adult Swim says yes. Major Mayhem [99¢] is Adult Swim's latest contribution to the mobile marketplace and… a rail shooter, I guess. Closer in tone to Duck Hunt than Counterstrike, Major Mayhem bears more than a passing resemblance to games like Virtua Cop and Time Crisis. Here, movement is largely independent of the player. You'll be transported to the next zone automatically once you've killed a sufficient number of enemies. The shooting breaks down as follows: See enemy. Tap on enemy. Earn bonus points. Avoid projectiles that have red auras. Profit. (Okay, fine, so there's some rudimentary platforming mechanics and a number of weapons to pick through, but still.) See? Major Mayhem is a new iPhone app title from Adult Swim, joining the ranks of mobile games to go along with their other titles such as Amateur Surgeon, Bring Me Sandwiches, and Five Minutes to Kill Yourself. Adult Swim has a way of taking innocent concepts and making them extreme. In Amateur Surgeon, they mixed the innocence of the game Operation and added dark humor. In Bring Me Sandwiches, they made a 2D version of Katamari that had me laughing as much as it had me happily frustrated with the puzzle aspects. Imagine mixing one part Duck Hunt with one part Sergeant Slaughter and then giving the ducks throwing stars. That is the basic concept of the Major Mayhem application . Major mayhem,oh he's a bad mutha*ucka trying to get his old lady back.This is not your typical side scroller...it's much better with a great character..look at his U.S.A tattoo, and his helmet with the ammo on it + a "but" in his mouth.Let's talk about the endless gunfire of taking down enemies with his handy pistol through nice visually,colorful environments and the shells coming out of the gun, sounds of the firing are nice as well. It has all around great visuals and sounds.The only thing I ask for is like a small thumbtack type d-pad with the crosshairs to place in the far right corner for the aiming & firing..instead of the tapping on the enemies to fire on..my finger just always has to be in the way (on the screen) to do kills..that just interferes with the action on the screen.Please just give me that 1 little d-pad for aiming & firing.Other than that scoop this game up right now,it's a well spent 1$,lots of fun and enjoyment of letting off rounds of shells.You guys have a keeper here!!!!!KEEP THE MISSIONS & WEAPONS COMING IN FUTURE UPDATES.THANK YOU.

I was undecided whether I should buy this or not at first so I decided to get it. One of my best decisions ever. It's like Time Crisis in a way, but in third person. And it's a side scroller, one of the best. If your having mixed thoughts about getting it, just get it. It's such a fun game.

This game is one of the smoothest games on the iPhone. The touch control dynamics are perfect. Just point to shoot and two fingers to jump. I love the animation! I couldn't be more impressed. So when are we going to see a squid billies game or a robot chicken game. I would love to see a Mighty Boosh based game! I never could understand why you don't make games based on your shows. Oh well, the games you have keep getting better and better at a price you can't beat. I'm also hooked on A Monster Ate My Condo. It's brilliant tower stacking game!
