By Leanna Lofte, Saturday, Jul 23, 2011 | Every week a few of us from team TiPb will bring you our current favorite, most fun and useful App Store apps, WebApps, jailbreak apps, even the occasional accessory, web site, or desktop app if the mood strikes us. As long as they’re iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch related, they’re fair game. To see what we picked, and to tell us your pick, follow on after the break! As most of you know, I’m a huge fan of Dropbox and apps that capitalize on it by tying into the APIs to create interesting new services. I also find Apple’s own Voice Memos app lacking in that there’s no easy way to get those recordings off my iPhone short of syncing (for now). DropVox is a little app that solves this problem simply. All it does it record audio and throw it into your

If you’ve taken the plunge and are counting down the hours until its release, this may very well be the longest couple of hours you’ve ever felt in your life. But hold on. Have you even thought about what apps you plan on downloading for your new bundle of joy? More importantly, what GAMES will you be wasting countless hours on your couch playing? Apple flipped the switch yesterday to allow iPad apps to be visible on iTunes. The thing is, there are already a ton of games available for the iPad, and it hasn’t even launched! That’s where your ole Uncle Danny comes in. I’ve taken the liberty of scouring the App Store for any and every iPad game you should have your eyes set

December 14th, 2009 Daniel Silva Yep it’s sale time again for Konami. Yes, all their games are on sale for $0.99. Crazy! I know right?! How many kart racers are in store? And of those how many are playable online? Konami attempts to answer both those questions with Krazy Kart. It’s the closest thing we’ll get to Mario Kart, but does it stand on its own? The multiplayer is still somewhat broken, but it’s no brainer at this price. Though it has received criticisms for having a gameplay NOTHING like the console version, MGS Touch remains to be the most sophisticated games we’ve ever played. It utilizes great graphics and rolls it with touch controls that just works for the device. Forget your knowledge about the console versions, and you’ll be fine. Save up to $5 on each game in Konami's impressive iPhone catalog. I once wrote for an app review site where the guidelines insisted price shouldn't factor into a game's rating. Nuts, right? That's like saying as long as you like the car you're test-driving, forget about the sticker. For a cheapskate like me, price absolutely matters, which is why I'm happy to see every game in Konami's iPhone catalog temporarily on sale for 99 cents each. That includes Metal Gear Solid Touch, which is widely regarded as one of the top iPhone shooters. It normally sells for $5.99 (and was $7.99 at launch). Other 99-cent titles include: These prices are good until Saturday (November 21), at which point they'll return to their previous levels: anywhere from $2 to $6. Most of Konami's games have earned pretty high ratings from users, but there are some--like Frogger and Power Pros--that I just

While the various news outlets of the web may have gotten readers a bit too ecstatic when hyping out the iPhone 5, truth is, there was no iPhone 5 come Apple’s annual press conference. One source says that next year’s iPhone, unofficially and presumably dubbed iPhone 5, will be a It seems that Apple decided to go ahead and give the go to iOS 5.0.1 earlier than we had initially thought. Releasing today, the update brings along multiple new minor features, the most significant, however, being the highly anticipated iPhone 4S battery patch. All of Konami’s iPhone and iPod touch games are on sale for $.99 for an unspecified amount of time. Yes, every single one. Even the games that were formerly priced at $4.99 and above are only $.99. Konami’s iPhone and iPod touch games collection could be considered hit and miss, but there are certainly a few gems on this list. Frogger has been priced at $.99 for a while now, but it’s still worth mentioning, and the same goes for Field Prowlers Police Rush. It’s also worth mentioning that it appears these sale prices only apply to the U.S. App Store.

Konami is having a massive sale discounting every single one of their games to $0.99. No matter what your take on the games, there's definitely deals to be had here. For those of you who have been dying to try Metal Gear Solid on your iPhone or iPod touch, now is your chance. Konami has finally decided to throw Metal Gear Solid Touch into the App Store’s bargain bin, but only for a limited time. Metal Gear Solid Touch is an on-rails shooter, which means that you won’t be controlling your characters movements, just the on-screen reticule. This isn’t exactly a bad thing, at least for some players, because the game still sports the usual Metal Gear Solid enemies and story. Metal Gear Solid Touch features 20 stages spanning across five different areas, multiple titles to earn, and 50 exclusive wallpapers for your device. Metal Gear Solid Touch is normally priced at $7.99, but you can now pick it up for $2.99. The sale price will remain in effect until August 15th. If you need some help deciding if it’s worthy

great for diehard mgs fans!
BowenG
Version: 1.0.0
if you've ever played a mgs game then you'll definitely love this! definitely not a full 3rd person shooter but fun nonetheless!!
Terrific gameplay but not worth
Dennis Q
Version: 1.0.0
The game controls are fantastic, and in-game graphics are good. But your character NEVER moves, not even on rails like other shooters - EVER! The story & cutscenes are poor & only for the true fans of the series ( I'm not & was lost ).
Worst problem is how short & non-challenging it us. You WILL finish the whole thing in less than 30m. At $8 that's simply not worth it, especially w/ no replay value.
Terrible.
Reggieandtfe
Version: 1.0.0
Pros
Nice graphics
Ok sound effects?
Cons
Takes less than 45 minutes to beat.
Shooting controls ate wonky as you control a cursor instead of just tapping where you won't to shoot
No voiceovers at all.
No variety to the gameplay.
Only follows the first three chapter of a five chapter game.
Lousy extras ie tacky character art you have to obtain a ridiculous amount of drebin points to unlock.
Good controls but extremely shallow...
sportsman1700
Version: 1.0.0
THe controls are very slick but the game is extremely shallow, no replayability, and gets boring pretty fast. It was a big letdown. Just a boring light gun shooter with a Metal Gear Solid title slapped on it.
THis is for the reviewer named aquademon922

Version: 1.0.0
Mr aquademon, you make no sense whatsoever you simpleton. You say this is a beta/lite version of the game? Wow, ive never heard a beta, or any lite version of a game costing $8 dollars....EVER!!! Good one. Looks like you want every one to pay the way most people did that wanted to give it a chance, despite the bad reviews. Stop it, be honest, i love MGS. Its the best game ever, but this version is just complete garbage. 80 megabytes of just pop up n shoot. fine if they are gonna bring more levels, and more depth to the game, but why not prepare it with a decent amount together with the first release? You really have one chance to make a first impression, and as far as the iphone version goes, your first impression is over. I really give applications a chance to shine despite the reviews, but if you want to save 8 bucks for other apps that are worth it, then skip this or you'll be back and forth with apple on their web based content form asking for a refund. I want to say hi to all the developers friends who gave this game a 5 star, or a superb, or flawless and "reason why i bought the iphone. good job buddies!!
Amazing App

At least the graphics r good
megatron6776
Version: 1.0.0
Graphics=good
Gameplay=not what I expected
Satisfying
Cause007
Version: 2.1.0
I've been skeptical about this since initial release. After playing the LITE version, I thought the gameplay was satisfying and fun, and finally decided to dump $8 to buy it. I am completely satisfied.
Length: My first runthrough took me five or six days. My second runthrough took maybe an hour or two. I still play it for a quick distraction. For an $8+ game, it's not very long, but has more replay value than most around that price.
Bottom line, if you liked the demo and wanted more, buy it. It's worth the money.
One glitch: the aiming retina sticks from time to time, messing up the flow of going from target to target.
Huh??

Version: 1.0.0
Lame gameplay
Just another stationary/shooting game.

Version: 1.0.0
I give it 3 stars for graphics. Don't buy if you're not a metal gear solid fan.
Fun, Old-School Shooter!
Bones3D
Version: 1.0.0
Although hard-core MGS fans might not care for this title's lack of the stealth elements that made the series so popular over the years, there is still a lot of fun to be had here.
Gameplay is very similar to old-school "light gun" shooting games, like "Hogan's Alley" and "Mad Dog McCree", where you shoot at enemies from a stationary position, while avoiding allies and non-combatants.
Using an innovative control system, this game faithfully recreates the challenge of such shooters. The player uses a series of finger sweeps to move an aiming reticle around from enemy to enemy, as well as a series of gestures to change weapons. The game also tosses in a few surprise targets that unlock special weapons or features, such as a rocket launcher.
If you're dying for some old school target practice gaming combined with modern visuals, this title will fit the bill perfectly.
Really Hideo Gates, really???!
MrAceFrehley
Version: 1.0.0
Really not what i expected, no controls other than drags and taps. Buy brothers in arms instead for an example of what this could've potentialy been, and what is a great game that isn't a rush job that cashes in on a dry and done for plot if you've played all the mgs' tons of times before
No better than an interactive slideshow!

Version: 1.0.0
This game would be awesome if there were exploreable environments rather than the shoot-a-mole style game. 8 bucks is a lot to ask for! Also the game is short in 15min I played half of this first release (this download is half the game and will be updated later with the second half). Idk this might be for the die hard fans who like the story and don't care about game play.
Ok game. But not great :(
Spoonificator
Version: 1.0.0
this is an ok game, but seriously shooting at card board cut outs?? Just dumb for 7.99 and better come with more than 20 levels (as free uodates) or I wont be reccomending this to anyone. The gameplay should of been like Brothers in Arms for the iphome then this game would be worth 15 bucks.
Bottom line: its basicly tap to shoot and dosnt have enough levels for 7.99. Do not buy if Konami wont listen!
This is a waste of money for 12 levels.
DO NOT BUY THIS APP!!!!
Better than I expected
justsomeguyreally
Version: 1.0.0
I'd really give the game 4 1/2 stars but I rounded it up to a 5. The controls work like this. Snake automatically hides behind cover, and when you touch any part of the screen Snake pops out of cover. You can touch any part of the screen to move your pointer around and you can tap any part of the screen to make Snake shoot. You do not tap on the enemies to kill them, you have to move your finger across the screen to place the pointer on them, this makes the gameplay much more engaging than merely tapping on the enemies. The game is simple in nature but it is engaging enough to be fun.
Waste of space and money
CNile Developer
Version: 1.0.0
Get a free whack-a-mole game and download some MGS fan art. Cheesy sprites pop up and you click on them with a cursor while whistfully daydreaming about the other things you could have done with that ten dollars. Seriously, it uses a cursor. The whole point of a touch screen undone with an awkward crosshair cursor. No 3d gameplay, no skill, no strategy, and a horrid story line paired with the most un-fun, unattractive interface ever. I was giddy with excitement during the entire ten minute download. I was expecting 90 megs of robust gaming goodness from a reputable development house, and got more rediculously overpriced app spam. This takes everything good about the iPhone as a gaming platform and poops on it.
CAN I HAVE SOME?
sashicon
Version: 1.0.0
because whatever these reviewers are smoking must be really good. My original rate was three but I droped it to it's true quality, for the fact that so many of the reviews are LYING TO YOUR FACE. If you want metal on your iPhone then buy it. If you want to play a game, a shooter, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Konami pulled the same biz thq did with the force. Billy frontier is better than this as far as a stationary shooter, and that game is for puppies. And I have a Box,Box360, S3, wii, S2, S1, pSP,cube, nes, and PC, I know the difference between them and my iPhone. So I don't expect to see consol nor PC graphx, but I do expect to actually play a game that atleast has a little thought put into it for 8bucks. I think namco or gameloft could sue for playgerism. If you have wildwest or Time Crisis you already have this game but better, plus 8 bucks. Well it may not be worst than TC, but wildwest is def a more polished, replayable, difficultly fun game, and gameloft is the king of one play wonders. Is this a one star game? No, but I have to do something to save cash for my fellow ibros/sisters THIS APP IS A SPRING BOARD PAPER WEIGHT, where is the 80+megs at? this amount of quality coulda been done under 10megs or less. You can beat the game in under 30min, there is absolutly, I said ABSOLUTLY NO replayablility. I would say only get it if your a metal fan, but that would be the same as buying a devil worship book when you faithfully belive in god. Even though I was mostly disappointed that it wasn't open world, as a motionless stationary on rails, as far as gameplay, and replayabilty go, it's almost the worst in the store if it wernt for the graphics. So I'm begging all the reviews that gave this game a 5er, CAN I HAVE SOME? And should I smoke it before, or after I play the game?
