Aqueduct ($2.99) features a very different art style than the other Kieffer Bros. games I’ve played (Abca, Orba), but I’m glad to report that the charming and polished presentation (which is the hallmark of this indie development team), is still very much alive in this newest title. Aqueduct reminds me a lot of a Mosaic puzzle, but it feels a lot less claustrophobic than other similar games, and despite the fact the game world is made up of inanimate objects, there’s something very lively about the atmosphere. I’ll be releasing a review of Aqueduct in the very near future (hint: I like it!), but you can also check it out for yourself on the App Store.

I think I’ve spent more time playing games on my iPhone than I have on my old Playstation, Playstation 2 or Wii. It simply boils down to the fact that whenever I’m standing around waiting in a line, waiting for the train or in a dentist’s office, I can pull out my phone and have a quick game of something. Having a great choice of games in your pocket means you never need to be bored again while waiting around. Here are my 21 favorite games to wait around with. The key common features for these games are that they’re quick to start playing and that you can achieve goals quickly with available playtime of as little as a minute. There are no long drawn out strategic battles, epic adventures or quests to get absorbed into. My new favorite puzzler, Aztec Quest requires you to get the ball to the destination

December 26th, 2009 James Isabel Sure Christmas is already over but let’s not forget the New Year is just around the corner. Kieffer Bros thought just that by slashing most of their games to FREE with the one exception… their super awesome and highly well presented word game Lexic! Lexic is a very structured and polished word finding game. The game should not be downplayed because of this as the game is extremely addicting and zen inducing. Since then, the game has bred more game modes which makes it a MUST BUY. And now for the freebies… This game is Kieffer Bros take on a screen-clearing game. The result? AMAZEBALLNEZZ of course. Take the level of Lexic polish and put it an casual game, this game is exactly that. MORE FREE games after the jump… Though we didn’t seem to enjoy Hyper Puck much when we it, the game is still

We’re on day 22 of Blacksmith Games’ Appvent Calendar ‘09 promotion, and today’s primary free game is Sponge Dude. Sponge Dude uses gameplay elements from quite a few genres to create a unique and colorful gaming experience. Sponge Dude, the game’s main character, lacks arms and legs, so you will have to utilize a variety of different items, such as bombs and balloons, in order to get Sponge Dude from one end of the level to the other. The game features multi-touch controls, four worlds with 26 levels, and a upbeat soundtrack. If you are into platforming physics-based puzzlers, this one should be right up your alley. Sponge Dude is normally available in the App Store for $1.99, but today it is available for free. The other free games listed below aren’t actually included in the Appvent Calendar ’09 promotion, but we figured since we already had you here, we would

Monday, December 21st. What better way to start the week than with oodles and oodles of free games? While the Appvent Calender is merely offering us Doodle Golf today, we have loads more freebies to share, too. Darkroom Premium, The Deep Pinball, Orba, and all Red Rocket Games are also free today. This is certainly an amazing Christmas season. How many of you are running out of your 180 app slots? Doodle Golf Today’s Appvent offering is uncannily similar to Invisible Links, a game we reviewed earlier this year….probably because it was made by the same company! Doodle Golf is a slightly easier, slightly simpler incarnation of the same concept, in which you draw lines to guide your golf ball through a doodled mini-golf course. The catch is that the courses are drawn with invisible ink…so you’ll have to remember where the boundaries are! Invisible Links was a great game, though

It’s nearing the end of the year, and while all of the general public is out bustling through stores eagerly finding gifts to present to their loved ones, Apple’s employees have compiled their annual iTunes Rewind list that has highlighted their picks for the best in iTunes’ various media categories. iPhone Alley introduces our new editor debate series, beginning with a debate about Nintendo’s 3DS handheld system. Can it compete with iOS or is it dead-on-arrival? More importantly, is it worth the purchase?

The App Store is plump full of match-3 games, and I am sure your iPhone or iPod touch is as well, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t worth your time to try some of the new ones out. Orba is a brand new and silky smooth match-3 game that is being made available for free for a limited time. Orba is one of those games that simply oozes polish. The graphics are extremely clean and clear, the interface is easy to navigate yet not bland, and the gameplay is simple yet effective. The basic concept of the game is to match three or more like-colored orbs in order to clear the board, but you must make sure to think each move through since you will be awarded with bonus points for creating long chains, clearing an entire color, or even clearing the entire board. After you are out of moves

November 18th, 2009 James Isabel You know how we always remind you to download limited offer FREE games? We try to do a couple each day, but we’ve never seen TWO fantastic games get offered for FREE. Seriously, this is like stealing from them! Fayju Ball isn’t your grandpa’s or YOUR labyrinth game. It adds different surface texture, colored balls, different shapes and the whole shebang making this one of the best FREE games you’ll download EVER! remains to be the most sophisticated and complex word game in the store. Now Keiffer Bros is back and puts their twist on a screen-clearing game. The result? AMAZEBALLNEZZ of course. Just look at both games’ screenshots above. If you don’t download now, I’ll literally e-slap you. Come on, don’t want to feel like a thief for once? Ha! You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

Don’t know about Orba? That’s okay, because the game just came out. It looks to be another “screen-clearing” game where you tap on at least three similarly-coloured balls to clear them — the more that you clear in one tap, the more points you get. What really sets it apart is that it was developed by the Kieffer Bros, and that’s enough for me to at least give it a shot. They’re the folks who developed the insanely gorgeous word game, Lexic, which I reviewed a little while ago. I haven’t played very much of Orba yet, but at first glance it does seem to feature some of the same great polish, animations, and presentation that made Lexic such a winner in my book. What’s more, Orba is free for a limited time, so you’ve got literally nothing to lose.

The premise is very simple, clear the balls untill you run out of moves. But, it's just so fun to play, plus it's free!
