Posted 11/01/2011 at 9:30am | by J Keirn-Swanson There are almost as many Wikipedia-based apps as there are articles in Wikipedia. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but there are tons of apps that help put everyone's favorite online source of data in your pocket. While you could read Wikipedia’s article on apps, we think our article is much better [need citation]. Articles is a pretty skin for Wikipedia whether in its iPhone or iPad version. Sophiestication Software has chosen a pleasing design for replicating articles. Everything is laid out like a very well designed one-columned magazine with light sepia toning to the page. A very nice looking layout wins you lots of points with Steve Navigation buttons as discrete as Safari’s, running across the top on the iPad and bottom on the iPhone. That's not the only place it resembles mobile Safari, as multiple pages can be loaded and accessed very similarly

Posted 10/04/2010 at 12:36pm | by Andrew Hayward Each new iPhone has offered fresh and fantastical ways to improve your daily life, but the epic tag-team of the iPhone 4 and iOS 4 deliver the greatest set of tools and features to date. With the introduction of FaceTime video calls, multitasking, and the high resolution Retina display, the iPhone 4 has moved even further away from being just a powerful phone and web-surfing device. Now more than ever, the iPhone is a true lifestyle-enhancing accessory. Between the built-in features and the hundreds of thousands of options in the App Store, not to mention a few key accessories, the iPhone 4 can be figuratively formed and changed to fit your daily needs, whether you’re planning your daily commute, knocking out items on your to-do list, or simply looking to try a new restaurant. With this wide-ranging versatility in mind, we’ve come up

With the undeniable popularity and success of the iPhone 4 (despite the antenna debacle), iPad, and ever-increasing Mac sales, Apple is gaining customers faster than ever. If you're thinking about making the switch, this could be your perfect setup. Component one: iPhone 4 Now in its fourth iteration, Apple's iPhone has forever changed the mobile phone landscape by thrusting touch-screen technology to the tips of every tech geek's tongue and every consumer's wish list. Despite its early and somewhat overblown issues, iPhone 4 has had record-setting sales. With the exception of the complaints from a vocal minority regarding its antenna, critics love the iPhone 4. Think of iPhone 4 as your mobile communications component in this setup. With it, you can send text messages; make calls; send e-mail, instant messages, and tweets; update Facebook; and check in with Foursquare. Of course, you can play games and download other apps to the

The App Store definitely has no shortage of third-party Flickr photo viewing and uploading apps, but that didn’t stop Yahoo! from creating and distributing their very own official Flickr app. When you first launch Flickr on your iPhone or iPod touch, you will be required to authorize the app to use your Flickr account. This is done only through Safari and not the app itself, but after this whole process is finished, you will be good to go. Flickr’s main page has a Ken Burns-like slideshow of your contacts’ recent photos. From there you can upload your own photos via a conveniently placed button in the upper right-hand corner, or you can browse photos in a number of ways, including by search, tags or sets, recent activity, and more. When uploading photos, you are able to add a title, description, sets and tags, geotags, and change the photo’s privacy level. Photos

Ah, the smell of erasers and chalk dust is in the air, which can mean only one thing: it’s back to school time in many parts of the world. While I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was happy my school days are behind me, I am a bit jealous that students heading back to school now have a plethora of great web and mobile applications to help them tackle the tasks involved with obtaining an education. I would have killed for some of the great applications available to students today — almost all of which are cooler (and more useful) than the Tetris app I used to play on my graphing calculator. In this list we’ve assembled ten of the must-have iPhone applications for students heading back to school. These apps will help you stay organized, take notes, and study better. What other iPhone applications are helpful to you

r1994augusto
Version: 0.1
This is one application that I've been waiting for a long time. It's easier than the mobile page of wikipedia... its faster and more portable... it even helps me when cheating on an exam (trust me it does)
It's Ok
John Doe Legend
Version: 0.1
It's ok, there are much better WikiPedia programs out there. But it's FREE and a good start.

Nice
smartphone4biz
Version: 0.1
Clean, simple, fast. Caching of articles is great. Looks like a small well organized codebase on github that will be easy to contribute enhancements to
Great app!

Great!
Um
Stoj26
Version: 0.1
Is it supposed to work? If not, then this is a great app. A big, pretty, white screen with the little spinning thingy. Just what I was looking for.
Pretty poor
someone998
Version: 0.1
Quite slow and lacks any innovative features. It also doesn't feel very native. Honestly, I'm not sure why they bothered releasing this. At least it's free, I suppose.
Poorly executed
Jaap123
Version: 0.1
I expected more from the official wikipedia app. No way to zoom on images, icons are not iphone standard, slow.
I will stick to wikipanion thanks.
Wikipedia rocks!
Byrdhouse
Version: 0.1

Decent start
tboooe
Version: 0.1
Not a bad start but the app is slow to start and slow to display results. The other two main cocmpetitive apps are better. Hopefully this app will improve over time.

Okay
MusashiG
Version: 0.1
When I installed the app and launched it nothing happened. Restarted iPhone and this time the app launched. The app is okay, a little slow with no ability to bookmark.
Microphone, really?
Alden Wilkins
Version: 0.1
I would love to write a review, but for dome reason a microphone is essential to use wikipedia. My 1st gen touch does not have one, so I am out of luck. I don't seem to remember using a mic on wikipedia.com on my comp.
Go wash your car
FlydogAZ
Version: 0.1
...while the page loads with your results because it will be at least 20 minutes.
Requires a microphone? Really?
n00borama
Version: 0.1
I have an ipod touch and it won't even let me download the app. Newsflash: I don't need a mic to look up random crap on the internet.
Not as good as wikipanion but could be with some updates
kylekamm51
Version: 0.1
Very simple and easy to use but lacks the many features available in other wiki apps.
Wikipedia's iPhone site is better
M A 4
Version: 0.1
This may improve, but it loads slowly and the UI has too many rough edges. It feels homemade.
There's a very good alternative: Wikipedia's site itself is now optimized for iPhone and works really well--plus it makes it easy to use other sites alongside Wikipedia. And if you bookmark it to your home screen it gets a real W icon just like this app.
