Wolfram|Alpha for iOS can now take an image as input; If you pay for the capability that is
Mini_discussion_bubble IntoMobile - Posted Fri, 16 Mar 2012 10:36:57 UTC +00:00
There’s a new add-on for the Wolfram|Alpha app for iOS that allows you take an image as input and “process” it with the popular app/service. Available as in-app purchase of $0.99, it can either work with photos from your Camera Roll or pictures taken on the fly and input them directly into Wolfram|Alpha. The application on its end can then provide analysis of your photo, allow you to add filters, detect features, perform color processing, and apply image effects. Pretty cool stuff, right? But that’s not all, existing features like weather and consumer product queries also received an update. For instance, a query for the weather will provide a more graphical output, and a query for a consumer product will come with links to purchase the items directly from Best Buy… I love Wolfram|Alpha and can’t wait for the day to get it on my Android smartphone. That said I’m not Read More
Wolfram Alpha for iPhone 1.4 wows with image manipulation, Best Buy purchasing
Mini_discussion_bubble TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog - Posted Thu, 15 Mar 2012 17:50:00 UTC +00:00
Wolfram Alpha app (US$2.99) fans should be rejoicing today. Version 1.4 of the incredibly powerful analytics app is available and adds a number of new features, including image analysis and manipulation. Among the new goodies in Wolfram Alpha 1.4 are a new look for weather queries and the ability to search for and purchase items from Best Buy. Yep, that last feature is correct. You can now query Wolfram for things like "17 inch LCD monitor" or "LG Washing Machine" and get more information than you really ever wanted -- plus the ability to buy those items from the app. Image processing capability, however, is the star of the show. The Image Input feature is a $0.99 in-app purchase that lets you add filters, view EXIF and histogram info about your photos, and even shows thumbnails of your images with contrast and colors adjusted. The app also creates thumbnails of various Read More

Siri accounts for about a quarter of the queries fielded by Wolfram Alpha, whose staff has grown to 200. 25-Prozent aller Wolfram|Alpha-Suchanfragen stammen von Siri.

WolframAlpha is the ultimate information app for your Android tablet. This app is basically an encyclopedia, dictionary, thesaurus, calculator, and a dozen other things all rolled into one. Search for any subject and see everything from synonyms to crossword puzzle clues, words that rhyme, or even word frequency throughout history. There are plenty of apps that offer similar services for free, but none that are so comprehensive and put all those services in one easy to use place. I would probably have killed to have this app throughout school; it’s pretty much the ultimate education aide. The large screen of a tablet makes the keyboards easy to use, and it makes good use of the space. This is just an excellent app all around. The WolframAlpha app is a marvelous resource for Android tablet owners. Read More
Daily iPhone App: Wolfram Alpha

Games are popular on the App Store right now (check out the lists of top paid and free aps), but several readers have asked us to extend beyond games with the Daily iPhone App series. So, here you go. Wolfram Alpha for iPhone is a mobile version of the very useful "computational knowledge engine" service. Just like the online version, Wolfram Alpha for iPhone provides answers to your questions about math, almanac-style timetables, or just about anything else you need to know. Answers are provided in the form of text, images, tables, charts, graphs, grids, and so on. The app does require an Internet connection, unfortunately, but it's recently been tuned up and streamlined, so it should be faster than ever. The app has also gotten support of Facebook sharing, so if you find something interesting, you can make sure your friends see it as well. WolframAlpha can be super helpful Read More

All of us are used to searching Google or another search engine for answers to our questions or to find new and interesting things. We’ve become so good t it that it usually only take a few seconds to find exactly what we need. But let’s say you have a complex math question and want to compare statistical data of two different countries. You’ll need to find a website that has done the research or dig through hundreds of random results. This is where Wolfram Alpha comes in. The site is labelled as a computational knowledge engine. Unlike Google, searching on this site will only yield facts. This means you can use it to find proven data and trust that what you are reading is true. The app chews through your search phrase and breaks it down into a logical problem. It then gives you very detailed results with graphs, charts, Read More

If you’re constantly late for class and hanging on to your hopes of a diploma by a single letter, then these apps will help you get your grades up without sacrificing your much needed beauty sleep. Wolfram Alpha is the only reason I passed Algebra my Freshman year. The app used to be $50, but they have since come to their senses and reduced it to just $1.99. If you haven’t tried out the website yet, you should. It can do conversions, tell you the volume of a dodecahedron, and give you the answer to life, the universe, and everything. Wolfram can basically solve any math problem and even shows you the individual steps. The free website is compatible with the iPhone, but the application makes Read More

And the iOS4 app updates just keep on coming. We’re finding more and more by the day. Whether it’s adding support for the iPhone 4′s awesome retina display or taking advantage of new APIs within iOS4, we’re still watching for them. Here’s the ones we found this time around, and as always, if you see any we missed, be sure to let us know in the comments! Readdle is an incredibly easy to use app that allows you to not only view all kinds of files right on your iPhone, but also allows you to manage and save attachments. It’s one of the better apps we’ve found to handle documents, not to mention reasonably priced. Not only did Readdle’s newest update add multitasking support, it also adds support for USB file transfer through iTunes. Better yet, you can now save attachments via the Mail app. [iTunes Link] WeeMee is an incredibly Read More
The 30 Best iPhone Apps So Far This Year
Mini_discussion_bubble TechCrunch - Posted Sat, 07 Aug 2010 18:12:54 UTC +00:00
Editor’s note: This guest post is written by Alex Ahlund, the former CEO and founder of AppVee and AndroidApps, which were acquired by mobile application directory Appolicious. About this time last year, he gave us his picks of the best iPhone apps of 2009 up until then, so we thought we’d make it an annual tradition. I’ve been involved in the iPhone app industry since it first began in 2008 and I have to say that it has come a long way. I’ve seen it grow from a meager launch of 500 applications in the App Store to currently over 225,000. In only two years, the industry has matured at hyperspeed. It spawned an entire ecosystem to support it from a multitude of news and editorial resources to developer engines, promotional services and ancillary niches. With over five billion app downloads and a billion dollars at stake, it’s no surprise that Read More

WolframAlpha for iPad – app review
Mini_discussion_bubble The iPhone Blog - Posted Sat, 19 Jun 2010 13:18:11 UTC +00:00
By Leanna Lofte, Saturday, Jun 19, 2010 | WolframAlpha is a computational knowledge engine on the web, and with their iPad application, you can perform calculations and look up information even easier. WolframAlpha is a universal application, so you pay once but receive the optimum experience on both your iPhone and iPad. Using WolframAlpha is simple. Just type what you’re interested in and WolframAlpha will provide you information about it. For mathematical expressions, the keyboard has an additional 3 rows of numbers and symbols. Tapping “more” on the keyboard will expand the keyboarding adding 4 more rows of symbols. When solving advanced problems like integrals and derivatives, WolframAlpha not only provides the answers, but displays the steps taken to find it. The steps are very clearly written with sentences describing the procedure. This is my favorite feature of WolframAlpha because it is an excellent learning tool and because it is a Read More

But like most mega-marts, the sheer size of it all makes the good stuff harder to find. We’ve scoured the Store, and found the best apps to help you use your iPhone to it’s fullest potential. Whether it’s games you seek, or productivity tools, we’ve got you covered. As it turns out, there really is an app for that, no matter what that is. The iPhone and iPod touch brought back fun to videogaming, with developers focussing on innovation, affordability, and novelty. Touchscreen and accelerometer controls also force designers to think different, resulting in games that are a glorious collision of classic and cutting-edge gameplay and technology. --Craig Grannell Steph Thirion · $2.99 Eliss is the perfect game for the iPhone’s Read More

“There’s an app for that”. Douglas Adams is not alive to see the closest thing to his Hitchhiker’s Guide that humankind has yet devised. When it comes to math problems, Wolfram Alpha is smarter than the average search engine. Now it's affordable, too. One of the App Store's most notoriously expensive apps just got a price cut. Wolfram Alpha, which debuted last October for the fairly jaw-dropping price of $49.99, now sells for just $1.99 [iTunes link]. In case the name doesn't ring a bell, Wolfram Alpha made headlines last year as a supposed Google killer, a search engine that could perform "computational knowledge" tricks far beyond any other service. In other words, as CNET's Rafe Needleman put it, "Google finds links. Wolfram Alpha finds answers." My own take: It's a search engine for math geeks. In any case, there was widespread glee when Wolfram Alpha got the app treatment--followed by considerable head-scratching and some outright rage over its price. The $50 sticker seemed particularly insulting considering that you could enjoy much of the same Read More

WolframAlpha has finally realized that a $50 premium iPhone app is not going to work. The nice part here is that they have lowered the price, all the way down to $1.99. Sounds nice, and just in case you purchased the app when it was selling for $49.99 or $19.99, you can fill out a form (found here) where you can request your money back. What, a price slashing and taking care of those that made an initial purchase. Its nice to see someone taking care of the early adopters. The interesting part here is that the App Store does not officially do refunds, so this is coming out of their pockets. That means they are going to refund you the full amount, and have to cover the 30% that Apple took for the initial sale. But in short, if you wanted the WolframAlpha app and could not justify the higher Read More

Cheap tickets, booked! Dictations, taken! Movies trivia, two ways! And much, much more... If you hate hate hate galleries, click here to view the apps as a single page. • Google Mobile: This update keeps the app from launching into Safari as much as it used to, and widens its voice capabilities. A minor but useful upgrade. • My Name and Head Shoulders Knees & Toes: I suspect most of you don't reader these roundups to find ways to entertain your children. Get Wolfram Alpha’s iPhone App for Cheap(er)
Mini_discussion_bubble IntoMobile - Posted Fri, 11 Dec 2009 19:33:42 UTC +00:00
Wolfram Alpha is a lot of things. It’s a great way to search for obscure information with free-form search queries. It’s a great way to cheat on your Algebra homework. It’s a great way to impress your friends. On thing it’s not, though, is cheap. The iPhone app has been available on the AppStore with a hefty $50 price tag, a price point most iPhone developers would never dare consider. But, in the spirit of the holidays (and to boost app sales, of course) Wolfram Alpha has reduced the price of its iPhone app to a more palatable $19.99 on the AppStore. Wolfram Alpha is an iPhone app (and a website) that uses tens of thousands of algorithms, developed over 20+ years, to delivers amazingly relevant and info-packed answers to free-form search queries. Input a math problem however you like, and you’ll get the answer in seconds. Ask a geography question Read More

Wolfram Alpha pulls plug on iPhone optimized website, pushes expensive iPhone app
Mini_discussion_bubble IntoMobile - Posted Fri, 04 Dec 2009 01:46:53 UTC +00:00
There really aren’t too many expensive iPhone apps available on the AppStore. All the apps on my iPhone, for example, range from free to $9.99 – most of them hovering around the $0.99 and $1.99 price points. Wolfram Alpha, on the other hand, offers iPhone users a free-form question answering service for the princely sum of $50. For most people, that price was hardly worth having an iPhone app that duplicates the functionality of the Wolfram Alpha website’s iPhone optimized interface. The key word here is “was,” because Wolfram Alpha has just pulled the plug on their iPhone optimized website. Wolfram visitors on iPhones are now being shown the regular version of the Wolfram Alpha website, with a pop-up ad that suggests downloading the $50 iPhone app. It makes sense, really. Rather than argue that $50 is a good price for their iPhone app, Wolfram Alpha rolled out an iPhone-optimized website Read More
Nice Try, Wolfram Alpha. Still Not Paying $50 For Your App.
Mini_discussion_bubble TechCrunch - Posted Thu, 03 Dec 2009 20:35:40 UTC +00:00
A couple months ago, Wolfram Alpha launched an impressive iPhone application based on their “computational knowledge engine” (a fancy word for search engine predicated on math) of the same name. Unfortunately, they horribly miscalcuted what it should cost when they set the price at $50. But rather than simply lowering the price, they’re trying another trick. As we pointed out at the time, one of the most humorous things about the app’s pricing is that the mobile version of Wolfram Alpha was completely free. Free beats $50 any day of the week, and I think WolframAlpha finally realized that as they have decided to destroy the mobile web version that was tailored for the iPhone and iPod touch, which TUAW noticed today. Now, when you point your iPhone’s browser to wolframalpha.com, you’ll be greeted by a pop-up letting you know that the WolframAlpha app is now available in the app store, Read More
WolframAlpha iPhone-formatted web page no longer available
Mini_discussion_bubble TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog - Posted Thu, 03 Dec 2009 18:00:00 UTC +00:00
Wolfram|Alpha has discontinued their iPhone-friendly formatted webpage. Another page, http://www.wolframalpha.com/addtoyouriphone.html, shows iPhone users how to add the website to their iPhone (hint: just like any other page). Visiting the website in Mobile Safari brings up the image shown here, also suggesting that you buy the iPhone app. The app gained wide attention when it was first announced due to its price tag, which critics said was far too high. Others rebuffed the criticism by saying that if you didn't want to use the app you could use the iPhone-friendly webpage. Perhaps too many people did just that. Thanks to TUAW reader Anil Doshi for the tip. Since there seems to be some confusion: yes, the regular website can be used once you dismiss the pop-up ad by tapping the "X" shown on the top-right corner of the ad. That seemed obvious to me, but obviously I should not make such assumptions. Read More

WolframAlpha, the well-chronicled online computational engine that can dig up all kinds of knowledge and was originally launched in May of this year, now has an iPhone app available in the App Store. The App Store description states that it “plugs directly into Wolfram Alpha’s supercomputing cloud to deliver the unrivaled power of the Wolfram|Alpha knowledge engine to the mobile environment.” It does need to be online to work, but conveniently it includes a special keyboard to make the entry of characters for mathematical and other functions very easy, welcomed by many who would use it, more than likely. Sources are saying that the app makes all output show well on the iPhone and that searches can be bookmarked and published via Twitter if you wish, making it flexible for a variety of uses. The site itself is free to access, but the app will run you $49.99 (probably aimed at Read More

Wolfram Alpha, the computational knowledge search engine, launched its iPhone application today. It's a nice looking app that does a lot more than simply embed the search engine in an iPhone app (it's an impressive graphing calculator and stock analysis tool, as weblog Mashable points out), but the $50 price tag limits the audience to either people with a really big iTunes gift card to burn or a serious jones for a souped up graphing calculator on their iPhone.

Soweit so aufregend.
Wolfram Alpha for iPhone packs big features and a big $50 pricetag

When Wolfram Alpha, the (don't call it a search engine!) computation knowledge engine, announced an iPhone app, I assumed it would just be a nice front end for the website. I also figured it would be free. Surprise! The Wolfram Alpha app does a lot more than expected, and it also carries a hefty $50 price tag. This might not be the smartest business decision for Wolfram, considering that App Store reviewers are notorious for complaining that even $10 is too much to pay for any iPhone app. On the other hand, the app does the kind of high-level math that would make Texas Instruments weep. If you're a student or someone in a math-intensive technical field, it might rock your world. Integrals, derivatives, differential equations, and all of the other stuff I've forgotten from years of math classes? Look no further than Wolfram Alpha. It's more than just a graph Read More

Wolfram Alpha iPhone app is cool but overpriced

The iPhone app for Wolfram Alpha (iTunes store link) got approved by Apple surprisingly quickly, I was told in a breathless e-mail from Wolfram PR on Sunday. But the real surprise was the price: The app is $49.99. The rationale is twisted. "It's less than half the price of a graphing calculator, but it does more," the rep told me. By the way, "price of a graphing calculator" is a calculation that Wolfram Alpha can't compute. For much, much less than the price of a graphing calculator, or $0.00, you can point your iPhone's Safari browser at Wolframalpha.com and have full access to the service for free. Divide by that, Wolfie. Also, the $49.99 price doesn't get you an actual standalone graphing calculator, since the app doesn't work when it doesn't have a Web connection. The Wolfram Alpha iPhone app makes it easier to enter calculation queries. Now, to be fair, Read More
Wolfram Alpha's iPhone App Launches: Lots of Power, But at a High Price
Mini_discussion_bubble ReadWriteWeb - Posted Mon, 19 Oct 2009 00:23:46 UTC +00:00
Quite a bit ahead of schedule, Wolfram Alpha's iPhone app appeared in the iTunes App Store today. The app, which costs $49.99, gives users full access to Wolfram Alpha's capabilities and greatly improves on the speed and ergonomics of Wolfram Alpha's mobile site. The company is targeting this app at students and professionals and marketing it as a replacement for stand-alone graphing calculators, which is clearly reflected in the price. One of the most interesting feature of the app, besides the ability to quickly access all of the power that Wolfram Alpha now offers, is the fact that the company has found a way to make inputing queries very easy. Instead of a single keyboard at the bottom of the screen, the app actually displays two keyboards - one for numbers and symbols, and a regular QWERTY keyboard at the bottom of the screen. Given the nature of a typical query Read More
Wolfram Alpha Miscalculates What Its iPhone App Should Cost
Mini_discussion_bubble TechCrunch - Posted Sun, 18 Oct 2009 23:00:10 UTC +00:00
Apple wasted little time approving Wolfram Alpha’s new iPhone app, which we hinted at last week. Just a few days after they submitted it to the store, Apple sailed it right through the approval process with such speed that it even surprised the Wolfram Alpha team, which had hoped to get some feedback from testers before the approval. I was one of those people, so rather than send them feedback, I’ll write it here. There are two key points about Wolfram Alpha’s iPhone app: 1) It is pretty cool, and very nicely done. 2) They’re insane for trying to sell it for $50. I’m going to mainly focus on second point here, because if you’ve used Wolfram Alpha, you don’t really need much explanation about this app, which is a slick interface for the service. And while I get Wolfram Alpha’s logic behind selling the app for $50, I think it’s Read More

Wolfram|Alpha is in my opinion the biggest thing in online search since Google, if you don’t know it yet I would strongly recommend you to give it a shot. It’s a computational knowledge engine which lets you basically solve equations, ask about historic events, movies, names, compare two stocks (AAPL versus MSFT is my favorite), convert currencies or measures and so on and so on. Well, following an announcement last week on a new api, Wolfram just released an iPhone version of its fantastic search engine. It’s relatively highly priced (50$) but the power of this application might very well be worth it. It could actually be the “one app to rule them all” and basically replace more than a third of the applications I own. [App Store link] Read More
Wolfram Alpha Launches $50 iPhone App
Mini_discussion_bubble Mashable - Posted Sun, 18 Oct 2009 21:22:28 UTC +00:00
On Thursday  WolframAlpha launched its developer API, which should allow large and small developers (as well as businesses and educational institutions) to harness the power of the computational knowledge engine to enhance their own applications or products. Today, the WolframAlpha iPhone app (iTunes link) — which was built using the new API — was released to the App Store. The application is pretty advanced, as its $49.99 price-tag suggests. Before your jaw drops over the price, keep in mind that this is much more than just a mobile version of the website. It’s a high end graphing calculator (that supports discrete number theory, Calculus derivative and plotting of functions), an almanac, a currency/unit converter and a pretty sophisticated stock analysis tool. And that’s just the beginning. The buzz over Wolfram Alpha has always centered around its potential. After all, combining statistical, factual and scientific information with human-language requests is an impressive Read More

Wow, what a waste of money. I paid $20 for an application that is just a front-end to the WolframAlpha web site. I am a sucker. Here's what I should have done: open Safari on the iPhone/iPod Touch, go to wolframalpha.com. Done. Enter an equation, same results. I paid $20 for an application that shrinks the WolframAlpha web site down to fit the iPhone/iPod Touch screen. How are they, in good conscience, charging $20 for this application? Moreover, how did Apple approve this?

I like Wolfram Alpha. I bought this app on sale with hope it will be improved. It's worth, the way it is, about $0.99. It is nice to have favorites and history. I expect though to see more differentiation between this app and the (free) website. I'll update my review as the app is updated.
Excellent technology, decent delivery
Mr. Silvers 4.0 stars Version: 1.1.0
The wolfram alpha app is pretty, works efficiently, and seems to be able to everything the website can do. And there's the problem; we really shouldn't be charged $49.99 for something we can get for free, albeit slower (slower when were using a smartphone, that is) Wolfram should be able to make a profit off of this extremely helpful and smart technology, but they shouldn't try and get it all from just a few people. I bought it when it was on sale for $20, because that's way closer to a good price point, it may even be worth the $20, the point is that it is right on the border of expensive and too expensive. Anyone looking to buy this app should buy it when it's on sale.

WolframAlpha's long-term goal is to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable and accessible to everyone. This is quite a lofty and admirable goal. Now I can explore the ever expanding universe of WolframAlpha from my iPhone without worrying about the results fitting correctly on my mobile screen. My purchase won't make a dent in the money being spent to pull all of this knowledge together, but surely it couldn't hurt. Love the app and all the awesome stuff behind it!

Although I agree with many comments on WA I bought the app as a token of support. It is a very aggressive project and vision. As the data is acculated the AI approach to retrival will mature. This is a great way to access the Wolfram data and computations. There are some problems that need to be worked out, such as crashes accessing from history, which at least one other user has experienced as well. This is an expensive app, but not a problem in my opinion, as long as the bugs are cleaned up. Buy it and support the ongoing development.

Crashes if you try to do more than one search (on 3g w 3.0). Since I spent $50, I obviously WANTED to like this app. Will update this review when the product is out of beta. UPDATE: No update, but crashes have stopped -- took several reboots. Very odd so can't blame the app. Works as advertised.
I wouldn't pay $50, but get it while it's hot! ($20)

Is the improved interface over the web app worth $50? I say not. Is it worth $20? YES!
Great App!

This is really a great app that's useful on so many levels. I just have the smallest insignificant gripe... I wish the name was a bit shorter so that it fits on the iPhone interface. The name as it's displayed, "Wolfr...Alpha" is kinda ugly.
Best. App. Ever.

After effectively quoting Comic Book Guy, I can't help but stress how valuable this app is. Since downloading it a couple weeks ago, it has quickly become the most used app on my iPhone. The value proves itself whenever any type of data is needed. Google has always been my go-to reference book, but having to sift through the misleading results and non-relevant data is time consuming. Wolfram manage to provide accurate, reliable, and relevant data for almost every topic conceivable.
My practical use story...

I was in Mexico over the holidays with my sister last month. We drove out to a remote beach and laid our towels down near the water. We had no idea if the tide was coming in or going out, but fortunately I had my newly purchased Wolfram Alpha app on my iPhone. I loaded the app and searched "next high tide puerto vallarta"... a few seconds later we discovered the next high tide wasn't for another 8 hours. Armed with the information we decided to keep our towels close to the water instead of moving further up the beach.
Not better than the existing search engines

Very dissapointed!

All this info and more can be found with a simple google search! This is a .99 app!
Can't put it down.

I, like many others, was hesitant to buy this even though I use the web-based application frequently. However, once I made the decision to go for it I am happy I did. I have been using this app all weekend for various answers to both the practical as well as the incredible. As an engineer, I will use this app constantly in my day to day work. It is actually easier to use the W|A app for certain calculations rather than reaching for my trusty HP49G. Aside from the pure calculation strength of this app, there are huge amounts of information and data it provides as well. For those of you thinking, "Why not just use the web site via the iPhone browser for free?" Yes it's possible, and I did that for awhile, but the application gives you a much better (and faster) user interface experience. It really is a well-designed tool.
To make it better...

Copy and paste. What I am able to copy from a sub section should be recognized as a valid search expression. For example, when I am working with genes and I copy from the protein sub section I should be able to get info on the protein. There is no way to select portions of text. I should be able ( in the paid version app) to get property lists and, for example, a list of countries or other entities as I can in MAthematica. I should be able to put pure Mathematica expressions into the search box and get appropriate results. I should be able to save results, as I can in the better wikipedia apps. These improvements, all fairly easy I think, would differentiate the app from the website and make it worth more than $50. I am a Mathematica fan and really look forward to the differentiators.
Expensive and buggy.

App crashes when attempting to recall queries from "History" or "Examples". Definitely a cool app, but not sure if it warrants $50. Would be nice if results could be stored for offline viewing.
If your looking for mathematica functionality- save your money
No good nicknames left 1.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
I own a few apps priced higher then this, so my complaint isn't that an apps cost this much - it is that this specific app cost far too much for what you get. I assumed that you would get more functionality then the FREE website - dead wrong. For the price tag you get a moderately better keyboard. Since the app advertizes that it uses mathematica in its algoritms, I was hoping that I would be able to enter mathamatica commands - dead wrong again. Don't get me wrong I love mathematica, but this app shouldn't even be considered a distant relative if your looking for mathematica type functionality.
Not worth buyingg

Why? Because the entire wolfram website is available free online via safari therefore the mobile app is obsolete. The only thing it offers is the extra keyboard that allows the input of mathematical operators etc. 50 ? Cmon guys, I feel like I've been hoodwinked, secondly as an aerospace engineer I find that the wolfram target audience would be high school level because frankly it lacks depth. You will find precious little physics applications and or equations, theorems etc. Decent math apps but again they are all available free online so what's the point of paying 50 dollars, I regret blowing fifty dollars on this, I should have done my diligence. It's about 49 dollars more than it shoul be. Icoild have purchased a knovel account for the money
I know online is free

Where else can you get that information!?

I was born in Tel Aviv on January 13th 1978. I wanted to to know what was the weather like and what else happend that day, so I typed: Jan 13th 1978 tel aviv; now I know! The amount and quality of knowledge one can exctract from this app is mind blowing! I will describe it like that: Imagine that you have a proffesional guy looking for stuff for you in different reference, knowledge base, and online sources; now, of course that you can do that yourself with Google (Web, Books, Scholar etc.), Wikipedia and other sources, however how would you know that the data you digged up is any good? In addition you get a graphing calculator; currencies converter (with historic values and different plots); and many other valuebale information tools. Now go and ask: Only 50$ ?!

"Waaaaaaa, it costs $50"
keithATL 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
The predictable whining of some iPhone users has already started. "Waaaaaaa, it costs $50." Like the old saying goes... "Some people know the price of everything and the value of nothing." These same pathological cheapskates would be complaining if this app was priced at $1.99... ("I'll wait until Wolfram lowers the price to $.99.").
Almost perfect
Appexpert 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is an amazing implementation of the wolfram alpha API, and is better in every way than the mobile web version. The only problem is, sometimes when you change how the results are displayed (such as from metric to non-metric) it does not show the new results. Having payed $50 for this app (the most I've ever payed for any app ever!) I expect this issue to be fixed asap by the developers.
This was an impulse purchase for me.
